SOB NOS MDM

The patient is suffering from shortness of breath, but the immediate cause is not apparent.

Potential causes considered include, but are not limited to, asthma or COPD, congestive heart failure, pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax, coronary syndrome, pneumonia, and pleural effusion.

Despite the evaluation including history, exam, and testing, the cause of the shortness of breath remains unclear. However, during the ED stay, patient’s condition improved, and at the time of discharge the shortness of breath is resolved, they are feeling well, and want to go home.

Patient will be discharged with strict return precautions and advice to follow up with primary MD within 24 hours for further evaluation.
